Tryout Registration:

A parent/guardian must complete the tryout registration and waiver forms online prior to his/her player participating in tryouts. Players will not be able to participate unless these forms are completed. Players are encouraged to attend both tryout dates. A fee of $30 is required prior to tryouts which does not count towards player dues. Each player will receive a CR Reds shirt to wear at tryouts.

About the Cedar Rapids Reds:

The Cedar Rapids Reds is a non-profit organization that offers competitive baseball and softball and is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of young athletes in the Cedar Rapids area by building a passion around our motto “100% Effort, 100% Of The Time”.

What we are looking for:

The Cedar Rapids Reds are currently seeking athletes that will be 6u, 7u, 8u, 9u, 10u, 11u, 12u, 13u & 14u. Players will be evaluated on key attributes (Speed, Hitting & Arm Strength, Defensive Ability, Attitude and Baseball/Softball IQ). See age calculator above.

League Affiliation:

Cedar Rapids Reds teams are registered/sanctioned USSSA baseball/softball teams. Team schedules will consist of 30-40+ games. These may include league play (Positive Sports Training (baseball/softball league)/Corridor Sports Softball league) and weekend tournaments. Some tournaments may require travel. Games/Tournaments will be a mixture of coach/kid pitch (6U-7U) & kid pitch (8U-14U). Each team decides on their team schedule.

Player Fees:

Fees help pay for league costs, tournaments, winter indoor fees, equipment, insurance and other team related costs. An $850 commitment fee per player and player/parent contract will be due within 24 hours of being notified of selection to the team. Uniforms, helmets, and bats are not included in this cost. This fee is non-refundable if the player later decides to not play for the Cedar Rapids Reds.

Note: Player fees are tentative and subject to change. If your player chooses to leave the Cedar Rapids Reds organization or is dismissed from the team due to rule violations or disciplinary reasons, all fees are non-refundable

Playing Time:

Playing time is the most common source of dissatisfaction, disagreement, and problems for any team. It MUST be clearly understood that players are not guaranteed equal playing time. Playing time will be at the sole discretion of the coach/manager. It is CRITICAL that each player/ parent understand that this is a competitive environment and each player must EARN their spot/playing time. Each player, regardless of playing time must also understand that they have an important role to the team, even when playing time is not equal.

Note: Please remember that a spot on last year’s team doesn’t necessarily mean an automatic place on this year’s team. We expect returning players to work as hard as new players.

100% EFFORT, 100% OF THE TIME
